Introduction

The end-client goal was to streamline the spacecraft components building process, by allowing easy access to their 3D modelling and measuring software for their parts suppliers from any device.

Identified Problems

• Every parts supplier had to setup a rack of servers in their facility to accomodate the software. This drastically reduced the number of suppliers for the end-client as many were not willing to install and maintain a datacenter for this usecase.
• Manual software deployment prone to human error.
• Downtime due to electrical outage, exposed to natural disasters. (fire, earthquake, flood)
• Required on-site staff to maintain and patch system.

Our Solution

• Deployed the software on cloud infrastructure accessible with just a laptop and an internet connection.
• Automated the deploy process end-to-end. No manual intervention.
• Solution deployed in multiple availability zones distributed geographically.
• Self-healing platform. When an instance is unhealthy, a new healthy one spins up.

Business Outcomes
  • 01 More suppliers willing to partner up due to ease of use. More suppliers resulted in better, competitive parts prices.
  • 02 Automated process. Human error limited to minimum.
  • 03 Enhanced security and DDoS protection
  • 04 No physical hardware turnover
  • 05 Virtually unlimited scalability potential both vertical and horizontal
  • 06 Reusable infrastructure code. Easy to redeploy.
  • 07 Lower maintenance costs
